The time has finally come for me to hit the streets of New York city for the first time (of many)!

Athough my morning started quite early, the 3:00am trip to the airport was quite relaxing thanks to very little traffic! I am the type of person who likes to pack the day before my trip and just focus on completing that task in one go! For that reason, I had only just started doing laundry earlier that morning to prepare for what I would bring to wear. I hang everything I own to dry to protect my clothes from the destructive powers of the dryer. Unfortunately, this type of care for my clothing happened to be my packing downfall as I scrambled to dry sweaters, shirts, and other assorted items with my hair drier an hour before we had to hit the road for the airport!

Regardless of the rough start, I made it happen. Somehow.

This was me showing some signs of sleepiness as we departed for the airport!

After a surprisingly smooth run through security, I was finally able to relax and grab a Starbucks in the terminal. The sun slowly started to peek into the windows of the Edmonton International Airport which made the day, and the trip, feel much more like reality!

And of course, through the magic of technology, we can skip the 8ish hours of flying and go right to some of the first shots of the city that I captured on the way to our hotel!

After landing at Newark Airport, Manhattan was within our sights!

So many beautiful bridges!

Seeing Brooklyn for the first time!

Seeing the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time!

NU Hotel bound – In our cab on the Brooklyn Bridge!

After a long, but very smooth flight, we finally arrived at the NU Hotel in Brooklyn. I was so happy to set my luggage down and finally begin to unwind after such a hectic day!

New York has definitely been an amazing experience so far, and I can’t wait to share more! Stay tuned!
