Heartstrings.

Well, it’s officially been almost a year since my last blog post – and what a whirlwind of a year it has been! So much has changed, and I am really so excited to be where I’m at in my life right now. I have missed creating new content, it really is a creative outlet for me and amidst a crazy work and school schedule it’s nice to find time to do something for yourself!

I’m in my fourth year of my Bachelors of Design degree (only one more to go!) and it is really strange to look back on the portfolio of work I’ve created and see how far I’ve come. I’ve also been working at a new store on The High Street which has been life changing and has brought with it a whole new family. Who says you can’t love the work you do?

I also have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks, most notably a much needed vacation over reading week! I can’t wait to be really creative, take tons of photos, and also get a tan at the same time. It’s going to be amazing!

I have been obsessed with this Club Monaco cable knit sweater lately. I love having an oversized, chunky–knit sweater to wear in the winter. The temperatures here have been so up and down – freezing cold one week, spring weather the next. I find that this is really the most essential layer, because it is so easy to add a great coat and a warm scarf for colder days, but no matter the weather it is still comfortable on it’s own. Also, I’ve been loving ivory lately, it’s really such a classic color – and one that I (surprisingly) didn’t really have a lot of in my wardrobe. That’s what initially drew me to buy this sweater, and I am so glad I did! I’ve since paired it with my distressed jeans and leather moccasins and it is the perfect outfit for cozy days!

I’m so excited to be back, and I am going to try and make more time for what I love to do, so stay tuned!

Denim & Red Wine.

I am in love with this Italian wool sweater from Club Monaco – and I have multiple colours to prove it! I like layering a really soft piece like this warm, red sweater with a harder, more distressed piece. For the distressed element I wore a light wash denim shirt underneath that has just the right vintage look. Finishing everything up with dark denim and a great moccasin boot makes this look perfect for a day of classes. Best of all, wearing a layered look is the best way to stay warm when you’re inside and you’ve shed your heavier coats and sweaters. A great sweater, made of quality wool, also makes for an excellent investment piece. You’ll have it for years to come, and the look and feel of the material, as well as the fit, will always make you feel like a million dollars!

Snow Day.

It has officially started snowing here in Canada which means it is time to layer up for the cold. One of my favourite things in fashion is to mix and match texture and subtle pattern. Wearing a chunky knit sweater underneath a knit vest just makes me look and feel warm – which I crave as I leave the house on those cold, dark winter mornings. The textures may be different, but they are working together to create a look that has a lot of depth to it. I mean, why not layer multiple knit pieces? This is the only time of year that you can experiment with a look like this, and if done right old man winter can send you his worst and you’ll make it through to spring with no problems – and you’ll look great while you’re at it!
