I have a gorgeous, vintage Eames shell chair in my design studio that sees a lot of love – but there is still a certain love, the truest form of Eames love possible, that is missing. Only a cat and an Eames shell chair can share this bond, as has been proven by many other people posting photographs on the web. I have tried for months, and been on constant watch of my cat, Cindy, who is aging and seems fairly set in her ways.
When I first brought the chairs home I had flashes of other cat and Eames photos on the internet and thought that Cindy would instantly adopt the sunny, yellow fibreglass chair as her new best friend. To my disappointment, she ignored the chairs, and further ignored the addition of various pillows and blankets that I thought would make the Eames chair more appealing to her cat-self.
Fast-forward to today: here she is. I couldn’t believe it when I saw her circling the chair as I worked on a design project, you could see the desire in her eyes – the time had come. Sure enough, and to my complete joy, she hopped up onto the chair, circled around on the fur throw a few times, and settled down for a peaceful nap. Today was a good day, and I hope everyone else is having a wonderful Friday! What are your weekend plans?
I had a really fun time playing around in the photo studio at school the other day while snapping these photos with a classmate of mine. There are so many cool, vintage things that have accumulated in the cabinets over the years to use for various photo projects – and I was starting to think of fun ways of using them in the future! This outfit was really just about being casual, comfortable, and effortless – and really, with 8am class it needs to be! One of my all time favourite colour combinations, that I think is a total classic, is navy, white, and brown. It is a really easy colour palette to wear and put together in the morning. That, in combination with a really cozy cardigan and soft v-neck helps make the early morning design-school woes slip away. I also just bought the pants a few weeks ago from Zara, and I am totally in love with the contrast fabric on the knee! It totally gives the pants a nod to their cargo pant cousins, without being quite so bulky and overbearing. A little bit of utilitarian chic is always welcome in my wardrobe, and I think it makes for a great balance to some of the softer pieces I own! Happy hump day everyone!

Army green, rich navy, antique white, classic brown, and bronze metal accessories. I have been playing around with these colour tones a lot lately, and it totally gives a playful spin on the great vintage military look – without actually going camo. This look is all about texture and colour with smooth leather accents on the blazer collar, the boots, and the satchel paired with a roughed-up vintage bronze watch and wrap bracelet. Even though camouflage is a huge trend, it is often not done very well and can end up looking cheap. I haven’t found just the right camouflage pieces yet, so instead I opt to expand the palette you see mixed in camouflage across my entire outfit instead of on just one piece. This is an excellent winter look that will transition nicely into spring because the colours are neutral and earthy. Best of all, when the fashion world says camouflage is out you still have great basics to wear, leaving no need to clear out a closet full of military pieces. When you wear this new vintage look, there is no need to hide away in the bushes – show off your camo palette with pride and don’t be afraid to mix it up!
